David R. Camara, 75, a lifelong Bristolian, passed away on August 11, 2026, at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice in Providence, RI surrounded by his loving family following a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Pamela J. (Rioux) Camara whom he met on January 1, 1967, and shared many happy years together as husband and wife.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 19, 1950, he was a son of the late David L. "The Potato Man" Camara and the late Margaret J. (Tallman) Camara. He was raised and educated in Bristol having been a 1969 graduate of the former Bristol High School. He remained a resident of his native community his entire life.

Early in his professional career, he was employed at Gibbermyer's TV repair in Bristol and then worked for the Raytheon Corporation in Portsmouth, RI as a solderer and later in the maintenance department for a total of 47 years prior to his retirement on July 31, 2015.

As a devout Catholic, he was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary's Church, Bristol, where he often volunteered and took collections during Mass.

An ardent bowler, he was a former member of a local bowling league. As motorcycle enthusiasts, he and a friend completely rebuilt a Harley Davidson that was his pride and joy. He also enjoyed cars, and as an auto enthusiast, he was the proud owner of more than 17 collectible automobiles.

He also enjoyed hunting and fishing but will be mostly will be remembered for his love for family and friends and his sharp wit and sense of humor.

David was a longtime member of the Cup Defenders, where he treasured his many friendships and the time playing "Santa Claus" each holiday season.

In addition to his wife, Pamela, of 55 years; he leaves his son: Eric J. Camara and his wife, Jennifer Camara, of Bristol, RI; his siblings: Arlene Smith and her husband, Larry Smith, of Rogue Bluff, Maine and Thomas Camara and his wife, Joanne Camara, of Bristol, RI; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

He was the brother of the late John P. "Pauly" Camara.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol.

All are warmly welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, Wood Street, Bristol.

There will be no funeral cortege from the funeral home prior to the commencement of the Funeral Mass.

Burial will be private.

Following the Funeral Mass, family and friends will be invited to share memories, fellowship and refreshments at The Cup Defenders, Wood Street, Bristol.
