Daniel 'Rocky' Silva

Mr. Daniel “Rocky” Silva, age 85, of Bourne Street, Bristol, died peacefully Sunday, January 27, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Mary “Mamie” (Silvia) Silva, his wife of 65 years. Born in East Providence and raised in Warren, he was a son of the late Frank O. and Eva (Perry) Silva. He was a Bristol resident for 65 years. He was a wire tester and for many years a truck driver for the Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp., formerly in Portsmouth and Bristol for 46 years, retiring in 1979. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol, where he was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and served at funeral masses. He was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol. He was a member of the Warren Portuguese American Club, the Cup Defenders Association of Bristol and he was a member of the former House of Judah Prayer Group in Bristol. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children; Gertrude S. Bastanzi and her fianc, Robert Tetreault of Rumford, Elizabeth Langello and her husband, Felix J. Jr., and Daniel Silva, Jr and his wife Denise, all of Bristol, five grandchildren; Paul Silva, Larry and Heath Bastanzi, Felix J. Langello, III and Daniell Stroessner and four great grandchildren; Paul Daniel, Christopher Joseph, Maya Jean and Avery Jean, a sister, Lucy Faria of Swansea, MA, three brothers, Joseph “Butch” and Richard Silva, both of Bristol, and George Silva of Swansea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Frank, Albert, Edward and John Silva and a sister, Dorothy Frechette. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 10:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Wednesday, January 30, 2008 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM.
