Catherine Motta

Mrs. Catherine (Brown) Motta, age 92, of 67 Sherry Avenue andformerly of 5 Lang Avenue, both Bristol, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph Motta, Sr. Born in Bristol,and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Cardoza and Mary (Brown) Brown. Mrs. Motta worked for the former Premier Thread Company formerly in Bristol for 14 years before retiring in 1977. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol. She is survived by a son, Joseph Motta, Jr. and his wife Jane,three grandsons, Joseph Motta, III, John Motta, James S. Motta,four great grandchildren, Shane, Gabrielle, Hunter and Casey and a sister, Elizabeth Almeida, all of Bristol.. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary R. Brown, Mary P. Ennis, Emily Lewis, and Madeline Sousa and three brothers, John and Joseph Brown and Manuel Cardoza Brown, Jr. Funeral services will be held from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday, June 12 at 8:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Monday 4:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to VNS of Newport/ Bristol Counties 1184 East Main Rd, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
