Mr. C. Thomas Campagna, age 84 of 113 Bradford Street, Bristol, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at St. Elizabeths Manor, Bristol surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Anne D. “Dotty” (Bruno) Campagna, his wife of 59 years. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Antonio and Maria (DAngelo) Campagna. He was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1942 where he was the class salutorian and a 1946 graduate of Brown University. He completed 40 years of service in several accounting, customer service, purchasing and executive positions with first the former US Rubber Co. and then for the former Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp at both their Bristol and Portsmouth operations retiring in 1982. When his children were young, Tom was active in Bristols athletic programs for youth. He was a coach for the King Phillip Little League, in addition he sponsored and managed a Bristol Twilight League Baseball team, he gave further of his time for the youth of Bristol as a member of the executive committee and the treasurer of the Bristol YMCA. All his life, Tom has spent many hours in service to his faith, he is a 63 year member, Past Grand Knight, past treasurer and financial secretary of the Bristol Council No. 379, Knights of Columbus. He has also been very active in his local church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where he has been a church trustee and finance committee for over 30 years, he has been a past chairman and Chief Marshal, past assistant treasurer of the 16th of July Feast Celebration Committee. Tom was an organizing member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, past president of the former Holy Name Society and was the general chairman of the golden jubilee celebration of the parish. In addition Tom has served on many committees such as building of the parish center, the pipe organ and air conditioning acquisition committees. A large part of Toms life has also been spent in service to his beloved town of Bristol. He has served as a member of the Democratic Town committee, long-term member and past chairman of the Board of Canvassers, interim appointee to the Bristol Town Council, and elected member and past chairman of the Bristol School Committee. He was an active member of the Bristol 4th of July committee and has served as a division Marshal. He is a member and supporter of the Friends of Rogers Free Library and Roger William University Library. He was a member of ther corporation of the Roger Williams College and was active on the Library and Building and Gounds sub-committees. He is a charter member and long-time treasurere of the Leonardo Da Vinci Lodge # 2289 Order Sons of Italy in America and along with his wife, Dotty, was a past recipient of the lodges Presidents Award for outstanding service to the organization and recipient of their 2002 Citizen of the Year, civic service award. He is also a member of the Brown University Alumni Association, Friend of the Brown University Newman Club, supporter of the RI Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children; C. Thomas Campagna, Jr., Marie Campagna Franklin, Paul A. Campagna and Susan J. Campagna, seven grandchildren, Kristen Gaebel, Julia Feeley, Emily and Anna Kate Franklin, Daniel, Anthony and Laura Campagna, a great grandson, Owen Ryan Gaebel, a sister, Rose H. Campagna, a brother, Frank J. Campagna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, Frances Fasano, Helen, Mary, Marian and Josephine M. Campagna, Mildred Merlino and a brother, Vincent A. “Jimmy” Campagna. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 9:00 AM with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Bristol. Visiting hours, Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt.
