Arthur Peter Sousa, Jr.

Mr. Arthur Peter Sousa, Jr., age 65, of 5 Anthony Ave, Bristol, died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Helga M. (Voigt) Sousa, his wife of 44 years. Born in Providence, RI a son of Arthur P. and Margaret (Greene) Sousa of Bristol. He lived overseas for 40 years before settling back in Bristol. He retired as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a communicant of St. Marys Church, Bristol. He was a life member of the Bristol Fire Department Defiance Engine Co., No. 1 and amember of the Anthony C. AlmeidaPost #237, V.F.W., Bristol.In addition to his wife and his parents, survivors include three sons, Harold P. Sousa, Jr., of Seekonk, Michael Sousa, of East Providence and David Sousa, of Bristol, a daughter, Kornelia Haasemann in Germany, six grandchildren, a brother, Robert Sousa, of Bristol, a sister, Sharon Wollschlager, of Bristol. Funeral services will be held from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol Thursday at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Marys Church, 330Wood Street, Bristol. Burial with military honors will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Wednesday 4:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bristol Fire Department Fireman Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 775, Bristol, RI 02809.
