Anthony Melchers

Anthony Melchers, 89, of Bristol passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2024. He was the husband of Kathleen (Paiva) Wilmarth. Born in Amiens, Holland, he was the son of the late John and Afke (Van Der Zee) Melchers. Tony was a very religious man who spent many years as a Franciscan Monk. He left the Brotherhood but remained deeply committed to his faith. He was a member of the Altar Society at St. Mary's church for many years before becoming a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church in 2019. He was the superintendent of St. Mary's Cemetery. Anthony is survived by his wife Kathy; his stepchildren: Jesse Paiva, (Diane), James Cabral, Raul Cabral, Dorothy Carriero (Alvaro), Jessica Thomas, Rebecca Cabral, Eileen Guerette (Roger); and many friends and acquaintances. He was pre-deceased by his first wives: Anna Del Toro and Karen Perry, his parents, and his seven siblings. His funeral services will start from Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, with a Visitation from 9:00 AM- 10:00 AM at Sansone Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol at 11:00 AM. Tony will be laid to rest at St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Vernon Street, Warren.
