Anthony E. Marabello

Mr. Anthony E. “Mara” Marabello, age 74, of 13 Buttonwood Street, Bristol, died Sunday, Sept. 17 at his home. He was the husband of Amelia (Botelho) Marabello, his wife of 54 years. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late Anthony S. and Mary Julia (Mansi) Marabello. A Barber, he was the owner and operator of Maras Barber Shop, formerly on Wood St., Bristol for over 25 years, retiring in the late 1970s. He then worked for 10 years at the RICO Machine Shop, and then became the owner and operator of Vans Spa on Wood Street in 1985, retiring in May of this year. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol, an avid Hunter and Fisherman he was a member of the Bristol Rod and Gun Club, an avid golfer he played in the George Medeiros League at Middlebrook Country Club, was active in the Senior League Bowling and was a member of the Bristol County Lodge of Elks. He was a former member of the Bristol Harbor Commission and the Rhode Island National Guard. He is survived in addition to his wife by, three sons; Kenneth J., Michael A. and Mark E. Marabello, all of Bristol, a brother, Frank Marabello and two sisters, Carol Cook and Mary Ann Almeida, both of Bristol, six grandchildren; Michael A. Marabello, Jr., Jason, Kristen, Amy, Brooke and Joshua Marabello and two great grandchildren, Juliette and Michael Marabello. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gaetano Marabello. Funeral Services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday at 8:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Wednesday, 4:00-8:00 PM.
