Anthony M. Doughney, 91, of East Providence, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. He was the devoted husband of Mary (Scully) Doughney for 68 years before his passing.
Born in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Grace Doughney.
Anthony served our nation in the United States Air Force as a Radar Technician in the Korean war. After the war he went to work as a Senior System Program Analyst for IBM for 38 years. He enjoyed golfing, chess and traveling with his beloved wife Mary. What he enjoyed most were the simple moments with his family and friends, and of course the Tuesday gang at the Bagel shop. The time that meant the deepest to him was being with his grandson and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Mary, Anthony is also survived by his children: Mary E. Acciardo (Vincent), Anthony M. Doughney (Mary), and Joseph J. Doughney; his grandchildren: Vincent M. Acciardo (Katie), Amanda Doughney, and Connor Doughney; his great-grandchildren: Vincent M. Acciardo and Madelyn D. Acciardo; and many extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will be private at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made out to the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School.
