Anthony L. Alves, Jr.

Mr. Anthony L. “Toto” Alves, Jr., age 57, of 189 Mount Hope Ave., Bristol, died Thursday at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Wendy E. (Abate) Alves, his wife of 25 years. Born in Providence and a lifelong resident of Bristol, he was a son of the late Anthony L. and Adeline C. (DAgostino) Alves. He was a warehouse worker at the Raytheon Corp. in Portsmouth for 29 years, retiring in 2005. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, a graduate of Bristol High School, Class of 1968, loved playing softball, bowling and was an avid N.Y. Yankees Fan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Eric C. Abate and Ryan A. Alves, a daughter, Ashley L. Roia and her husband, Glenn and a grandson, Ashton Roia, all of Bristol, and a brother, Steven L. Alves of Brockton, MA. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Monday, Jan. 29 at 10 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut St., Bristol. Visiting hours Sunday, 2-5 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
