Lifelong Bristolian, dog lover Anna Digati, 87, of Silver Creek Manor, formally of Franklin Court and Cottage Street, Bristol, died June 24, 2008 at Newport Hospital. Born in Bristol, September 2, 1920, she was the daughter of Sicilian immigrants Leonardo and Rosaria Digati. Anna was a 1939 graduate of Colt Memorial High School and a 1941 graduate of Johnson and Wales where she excelled on the comptometer. A retired payroll clerk, she worked at Crown Fasteners, US Rubber, Coro Inc., The State of Rhode Island and the Naval Station Newport in several commands including the Naval Underwater System Center. Anna was known for her positive disposition. She loved people, dogs, travel, theater, bowling, yard sales, TV, dining-out, Madonna, and reading. She enjoyed fried food and Manhattans which she attributed to her longevity. She was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church andmemberofthe Rosary and Altar Society. She was also a secretary for the Columban Fathers. She is survived by a sister, Rose D. Simmel, nieces, nephew, grand-nieces, and cousins. She was a sister of the late John Digati, Santo Di Gati, Leonard Digati, and Joseph Digati. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of ChristianBurialMonday, June 30, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the St. Columban's Chapel, 65 Ferry Rd, Bristol, Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. A visitinghour willbe Monday,from 1:00PMto 2:00 PMin the Columban Fathers Chapel.
