Anastasia 'Ann' Remington

Mrs. Anastasia “Ann” (Kelley) Remington, age 87, of Acacia Road, Bristol, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008. She was the wife of the late William G. Remington. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Thomas L.F. and Anastasia (Chapman) Kelley. She was a resident of Bristol for over 50 years. Besides being a loving homemaker and mother, Ann worked for the former Old Stone Bank for 23 years, retiring in 1985, during her years at the bank she served as the President of the Bristol County Group of New England Safe Deposit Association and a member of the Board of Directors and Programs for the NESDA. Anns cheery disposition and compassion for others was a common thread throughout her life and easily endeared her to others. Ann was always active in her community and state. She was a member of the Bristol Republican Town Committee for 30 years, she was a delegate to the RI Republican State Central Committee for 25 years and a former member of the Executive Council of the Republican Party. She had served as a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader for 10 years. Mrs. Remington was a former President of the Bristol County Chapter of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Woman, a communicant of St. Marys Church and a member of the St. Marys Womans Guild. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Bristol Art Museum and the East Bay Wind Ensemble. She was the former Secretary, President and Historian of the Bristol Highlands Improvement Association. Ann was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, ECHO and the Herreshoff Marine Museum for a number of years. She is survived by her five children; Charles Remington and his wife, Yoko of Mililani, Hawaii, Diane Carlson and her husband, David of Brewster, MA, Elizabeth Harlow and her husband, Richard of Bristol, Frederick Remington and his wife, Donna of Kapolei, Hawaii and Grace Remington of Bristol, with whom Ann lived. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas F. Kelley and four sisters, Dorothy Sullivan, Winifred Sahagian, Virginia Sherbino and Claire Kelley. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Monday, February 25, 2008 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Sunday, February 24, 2008 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to Cornerstone Adult Day Care, 170 Franklin St., or to St. Elizabeths Manor Patient Activities Fund, 1 Dawn Hill, both Bristol, RI 02809 or the Alzheimers Association, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
