Mrs. Alice Tavares, 91, of Bristol passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at St. Elizabeths Manor in Bristol. She was the wife of the late Antonio F. “Blondie” Tavares. Born in Swansea, MA and a resident of Bristol for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Correia Arruda. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by a daughter, Eileen Rinaldi and her husband Richard of Bristol, a son, Antonio G. Tavares and his wife Elizabeth of Reno, NV, grandchildren, Sheila Rice, Kristen Meckel and Mark Tavares; great grandchildren, Jack and Pierce Meckel and Brady and Nolan Rice. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Julia, Celia, Mary, Irene, Angelina, Joseph and Manuel. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, February 6 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Bristol. Visiting hours Friday, February 5 from 4:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 775, or to St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, both Bristol, RI 02809.
