Alice Correia

Mrs. Alice (Vieira) Correia, age 84, of 67 River Street, Bristol, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at her home. She was the wife of the late Manuel Correia. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Anna (Pacheco) Vieira. Mrs. Correia was a seamstress for the former Priscilla Sportswear and the former M&R Sportswear companies in Bristol for 20 years, retiring in 1975. She also previously worked for the Converse Rubber Co. in Bristol. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality at the church, a member of Hope Circle # 70, Daughters of Isabella and the Nocturnal Adoration Society of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She loved to sew, cook, make crafts and spend time with her loving family. She is survived by two daughters, Lillian Toevs and her husband Thomas and Suzanne Carinha and her husband George, all of Bristol, four grandchildren, Beth A. Whitten and her husband Tyson of Marblehead, MA, Stephen T. Toevs and his wife Dalise of Atlanta, GA, Gregory A. Toevs and Barry S. Carinha, both of Bristol, a great grandson, Thomas S. Toevs, II. Also survived by a sister, Mary Luciano and a brother, Manuel Vieira, Jr. both of Bristol. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Fortin and Philomena Torres. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Monday, December 14, 2009 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Sunday, December 13, from 3:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 775, Bristol, RI 02809 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1210 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920.
