Alfred J. Ferreira

Mr. Alfred J. Ferreira, age 78, of 6 Waterman St., Bristol, died Sunday, June 10, 2007 at the Newport Hospital. He was the husband of Claire J. (Levesque) Ferreira and the late Anna (Verna) Ferreira. Born in Assonet, MA, he was the son of the late Manuel and Elvira (DeSousa) Ferreira. He was a resident of Warren for many years, moving to Bristol a number of years ago. Mr. Ferreira had served in the US Army. He was a wire worker for the former Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp formerly in Bristol, before retiring. He was a life member of the Hydraulion Engine and Hose Co., No. 1 of the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department. Loved fishing and dogs. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jeanne M. McPhillips and her husband, Charles, a granddaughter, Samantha McPhillips, a brother Joseph Ferreira, all of Bristol, a sister Dolores Dunn of Utah and two step-sons, Kenneth A. DiSano and Paul A. DiSano both of Warren. In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Manuel and Charles Ferreira and two sisters, Rose DiMauro and Cecelia Wagner. Funeral Services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting Hours Wednesday, 4:00-6:00 PM.
