I would like to say a few words on my and my children's behalf about our sweet Vavo, Mary. Though I was not as close to Vavo as I would have liked to have been, she and my children (her great grandchildren) Alyssa & Carter, did have quite the unique relationship, even if it was mostly long distance. Alyssa and Vavo actually shared a birthday! Vavo, Alyssa, and Carter would speak quite often on the phone, exchange silly songs and jokes, and visit together when possible. Carter REALLY loved his Vavo and boy, did Vavo REALLY love him! As the old saying and valuable life lesson goes "cherish the time you have here on earth with your loved ones, as you never know which day will be the last," - learn to apply it, because it is hard to accept the "should have's and could have's." My heart aches knowing that we won't be able to yell "hello" or "I love you" at the top our our lungs to her through the phone anymore (as she was quite deaf). Thankfully, memories last forever in our hearts. My children and I will surely miss her presence and take peace in knowing she is now one of our very cherished guardian angels. May she rest in the sweetest peace, as she of all souls has earned it.
