Mrs. Lydia (Paiva) Mello, age 87, of State Street, Bristol, died peacefully Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Hope Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence, surrounded by her loving nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late George Mello, her husband of 40 years, who preceded her in death in 1993. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Manuel M. and Maria (Correia) Paiva. Lydia was a production line worker for the former Bristol Manufacturing Company and finally retiring from the former, Miner Industries for over 41 years, retiring in 1988. A member of the Radiant Christian Assembly of God Church in Warren for many years, she served her church faithfully as Secretary of Women’s Ministries, Hospitality Director and an Elder, when the Church was the Church of the Holy Spirit. Lydia is survived by a number of Godchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene P. Souza and Mary Cordeiro and a brother, John “Jack” Paiva. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 8:30 AM with a Funeral Service in Celebration of Her Life at 10:00 AM in Radiant Christian Assembly of God Church, 895 Main Street, Warren.
