Mr. Joseph A. Karouz, Sr., age 79 of Vantage Point Drive, Bristol, died Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.
Born in Providence and raised in East Providence, he was a son of the late Anthony and Victoria (Tamer) Karouz. A resident of Bristol for over 40 years, he was a graduate of East Providence High School, Class of 1962.
He was the owner and operator of East Bay Window and Remodeling of Bristol for 34 years. Following high school, he served in the RI National Guard for several years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol, a lifelong member of the Bristol County Lions Club, a Past District Governor and recipient of many awards for his service to the Lions. Joe was an avid golfer, loved playing different leagues with his friends.
He is survived by three children, Kellie Leeann Munroe of Estero, FL., Kerri Ann Hartmann (Richard, Jr.) of Cranston and Joseph A. Karouz, Jr. (Christine) of Riverside, his Life Partner, Bonnie Berretto of Bristol, seven grandchildren, Joshua Karouz, Brianna Hartmann, Shannah Karouz, Richard Hartmann, III, Joseph Munroe, Madison and Anthony Karouz and six great grandchildren, a sister, Sandra Barilla (Peter) and a brother, Robert J. Karouz (Mary).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Regina Karouz.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol County Lions Club, P.O. Box 534, for their charitable endeavors or to the Bristol Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 775, both Bristol, RI 02809.
